Trade math practice

Mixed practice across the arithmetic you use on the tools: type an answer, get it marked on the spot, and keep a streak going. Miss one and it shows you the working. Need a paper set? Print twenty at a time with an answer key.

This drill needs JavaScript to generate and mark questions. Turn it on to practice — the explanation below works either way.

What it drills

The questions rotate through Ohm's law and power (V = I × R, P = V × I), conduit offsets (distance between bends = rise × the offset multiplier), fractions and decimals of an inch, metric and imperial conversion (25.4 mm to the inch, 0.3048 m to the foot), the right triangle (c = √(a² + b²)), simple rectangular area, and percentages. None of it is a lookup — it is all arithmetic you can reason out, which is exactly why it is worth being quick at.

A worked example: a 240 V load drawing 10 A has a resistance of 240 ÷ 10 = 24 Ω and dissipates 240 × 10 = 2400 W. Once the relationships are second nature, the numbers stop being a hurdle and the job speeds up.

Questions people ask

What kinds of questions does this cover?

A mix of the arithmetic a first- or second-year meets daily: Ohm's law and power, conduit offsets, fractions and decimals of an inch, metric and imperial conversion, right-triangle sides, rectangular area, and percentages. Each question is generated fresh, so you never memorise a fixed set.

How does the marking work?

Type your answer and the drill checks it against the one it generated, with a small tolerance so a sensible rounding still counts. Right answers grow your streak; a miss shows you the worked solution and resets the streak. Nothing you type leaves your device.

Can I print questions for a class?

Yes. The "print 20 questions" button builds a worksheet of twenty fresh problems with an answer key at the foot, ready to print or save as a PDF from your browser. No sign-up, no email, and each sheet is different.
